Good morning. It’s twenty after 6 and it’s 63 degrees outside. 😳 We don’t gradually change from one season to the next here. It goes immediately from one range of temps to another in a drop of a hat.
Where has summer gone? As I stand at the back door looking out enjoying my coffee I’m reminded of “The Boys of Summer” by Don Henley.
“Nobody on the road. Nobody on the beach. I feel it in the air. Summer’s out of reach...”
I believe we have Northeast breeze this morning . At least I’m not shivering in my shorts. Yet.
This is the first time in many a year that I’ve only been to the beach one time and that was back on July 3rd. Feels weird.
I’m on vacation this week. The office laptop packed away in its carry bag. Work cellphone with its constant connection to work email is turned off. Might be funny this week. Someone is bound to complain and say I’m supposed to be able to be reached. Yeah, I’m going to allow work to take over any part of this time. If it’s urgent, those in charge know my personal cell number.

Anyway back to weather. The next few days are going to be cool like this but by Wednesday we are to have highs in the 70’s to almost 80 on a few days. I’m going to try and get as much beach time in this week as I can.
For now. I sip on my coffee. Oh, wait. I’ve gulped this cup. It’s almost gone. I’ll sip on the next cup. Trying to decide to have cereal or go ahead and fix waffles. Then I will go to the gym and get a good workout in.

For years I’ve allowed work to define me. I was my work. I’ve been such a fool. Especially when you wake up one day and realize that if you were to drop dead today, they would have a replacement in a week or two.
Oh well. Thankful the gym is open and I have the cold months to look forward to fine tuning my workouts so that next summer, I’ll be looking even better on the sand than 98% of the population.
