The Joy of vehicle ownership

Good morning world. It’s been awhile since I have made a post.

Presently I am sitting at my car dealership’s service department getting my free oil change. Since my SUV takes synthetic oil, it’s nice not to pay the going rate.

Decided to bring the iPad Pro to keep entertained while waiting. I am starting to watch this series on Apple TV called Severance. A look into a dystopian office environment where the work/personal life is taken to the extreme. Follows a man who works in a corporation and section where you agree to have your work life and personal life separated. When you are on the work floor, you have no memory of your life outside of work. You leave, you have no memory of the work you are doing. Apparently the main character lost his wife and instead of going through the normal grieving process, he uses this as an escape for 8 hours a day. It is starting off slow but might actually be interesting. Especially if you are looking for something that isn’t just explosions and special effects but something that makes you think deeply.

Oh. The service department is texting me with services they recommend. Let’s see. They recommend I get two new front tires. No, I’m not ready to spend $440 today on tires. I will go to Discount Tires and have them check and then see what deals they have. I’m supposed to have 10K more miles on this set now.

Ok. They want to flush my coolant system for $220. Then they recommend I get my brake fluid flushed for $120 although they say I have time on that…

Well it’s nice to see in a world going mad and inflation and all the fun economic stuff we presently have the car dealerships haven’t changed yet. They think I have tons of cash available now (LOL!). Guess I will have to look at what they’re recommending, see if it’s something that has to be done and if so…. Schedule it for the future.

I do have a mud flap that has come loose in the rear that they told me was a clip that has broke. $44 to replace. I’ll go ahead and get that done today. Guess they’ll get a little something out of me.

Yes. The joy of auto ownership. Now I have to figure out if I’m going to have a higher than normal tax bill from the city I live in because of the craziness in the auto market and the increased assessed values of used vehicles.

2022 is going to be a fun year. If public transportation was a better thing in my area it probably would be something I would take advantage of more. Here you have longer times to get where you are wanting to go and the cost makes it cheaper to drive my vehicle.

Doesn’t get any easier the older we get kids.
